On my way to our first race weekend of 2018 – the Bathurst 12 Hour. Can not wait to sample this iconic circuit behind the wheel of the Objective Racing – McLaren 650S GT3 car.
After a refreshing couple of weeks off over the Christmas and New Year break, training has been back in full swing and I’m feeling fit and healthy heading into the event.
The Bathurst 12 Hour is Australia’s biggest endurance race that attracts an array of international drivers and teams, as well as Australia’s best – making it a world class event! A race that has been on my bucket list for a few years now and with 65 cars confirmed on the grid it’s sure to be action packed.
I’m excited to team up with Warren Luff, Tim Slade and car owner Tony Walls in the Objective McLaren, running in Class A, Pro-AM. The team/car has shown strong speed in the two previous years however mechanical failures have dampened overall results.
A shakedown at Queensland Raceway 2 weeks ago allowed us to iron out any car gremlins and get comfortable in the cockpit before the on track action starts this Friday. Five practice sessions and qualifying prior to the 12 Hour race on Sunday will certainly keep us busy!
Coming off the back of a strong 2017 and some GT endurance racing experience under my belt – I’m confident we can kick the year off with a great result !
The weather conditions are looking great and well suited to our Turbocharged McLaren – but we all know that it doesn’t take long for the weather to turn upside down at Mount Panorama !
You can keep up to date with my progress and results on social media – the top 10 shootout and the entire race will be televised on 7mate and all sessions streamed live on the Bathurst 12 Hour website!
Make sure you keep an eye out for the 11A Objective McLaren !
